bespline presents session on Advances in Tooling/Molds at IBEX 2024
4:00-5:30 pm, Wednesday, Oct 2 – Room 114 - bespline Booth 1-121
September 20, 2024. bespline is co-leading an educational session at this year’s International Boat Builders Exhibition & Conference (IBEX, October 1-3) in Tampa, Florida. CEO Yoann Bonnefon will join James Anderson, Additive Manufacturing Research Leader at University of Maine, to discuss the latest advances in tooling and mold technology.
Production tooling is one of the largest investments a builder makes in creating a newmodel. It can also represent a significant investment in unrecoverable materials and a bump in carbon footprint. Recent innovations have changed that calculus — bringing flexibility to mold shapes and materials via a variety of technologies including additive manufacturing and reusable, reconfigurable digital molds.
Imagine being able to easily and cost effectively change the shape of your production mold to correct a design flaw or to satisfy an individual client who wants a slight departure from a production model. This session will explore multiple tooling options used by experienced mold builders and composites engineers, and present options that convert molds from a net expense that will have to be disposed of at end of life to a more flexible asset that can be reshaped and reused.
